Editorial Guidelines for Hive Highlights Submissions

Take a minute to review these guidelines before you consider submitting as this will be our criteria for reviewing and approving or rejecting your piece to contribute to the community.

Purpose & Tone

Inspiring and Positive: Focus on uplifting stories, insightful experiences, and constructive critiques that foster a sense of community and collective growth. If there is constructive advice to be given, treat his perspective with the utmost care and encouragement to foster improvement and success.

Respectful and Inclusive: Ensure content respects all individuals, companies and groups, promoting a culture of inclusivity and understanding.

Content Focus

Local Businesses and Services: Highlight unique offerings, exceptional service, and the impact on the community, while offering constructive feedback where improvement is needed.

Community Events and Activities: Share experiences, outcomes, and the communal value of local events, leagues, and performances.

Personal Stories and Insights: Narratives should add to the community’s tapestry, sharing lessons learned, personal growth, or how experiences within the community have shaped perceptions or realities.

3. Constructive Criticism

Objective and Fair: When offering critiques, base your observations on objective facts and personal experiences. Aim to provide balanced views that include potential solutions or suggestions for improvement.

Encouraging Improvement: Frame criticisms in a manner that encourages positive change and offers a roadmap for achieving it, highlighting areas of opportunity rather than solely focusing on shortcomings.

Accuracy and Authenticity

Fact-Checking: Ensure all claims, especially about businesses or individuals, are accurate and verifiable. Misinformation or unverified facts should be omitted.

Original Content: Submissions must be the original work of the contributor. Plagiarized content will not be accepted.

Formatting and Structure

Word Limit: Aim for a word count that adequately covers the topic while remaining engaging (typically between 800 - 3,000 words).

Prohibited Content

No Self-Promotion: Submissions should not serve as advertisements for personal businesses or services.

Avoid Controversial Topics: Steer clear of divisive or highly controversial subjects not directly beneficial to the community's positive development. (I’m talking to you, Nephi!)

Once your article is polished and ready, submit your piece. Here, you have two options: upload your Word document directly or share a Google Docs link.

Ensure your contact details are included so we can send you updates and feedback.

SUBMIT ARTICLE

Confirmation

Upon submission, you’ll receive an automatic email confirming we’ve received your story. This email is your assurance that your piece is in the review queue.

Review & Feedback

Our Review

Our editorial team will thoroughly review your submission, assessing how well it aligns with our mission and guidelines. This process takes up to 7 business days. We're looking for stories that add value and resonate with our community.

Status Update

Expect an email from us within 7 business days with an update on your submission’s status. This could be an acceptance, a request for revisions, or a notice that your submission isn’t a fit at this time.

Revisions

If revisions are needed, our email will include detailed feedback. We encourage you to revise and resubmit your article, keeping our suggestions in mind to enhance your story.

Publish & Share

Publication Schedule

Accepted stories are scheduled for publication. We will inform you about the publication date and share guidelines on how you can help promote your article within the hive.

Your Published Piece

Once your story is live, you’ll receive a link to the published article.
